JOELNANZ-INC operates Maple AI Consultants as its AI services and consulting brand.
I operate as a renaissance developer: broad technical range with deep hands-on delivery across multiple technology eras. I connect business intent to architecture, implementation, and ongoing operations—so systems are not only built, but adopted, secured, and sustained.
Joel Gathercole started in business at age 11 — newspaper routes, pool and yard maintenance, and selling custom-made products door to door. By the 1990s he was running his own BBS (Bulletin Board System), hosting a dial-up community years before the public web arrived.
After completing certified "Start Your Own Business" training in Quebec, Joel founded Netrique Inc. (2002-2006), an early adopter and developer of VoIP solutions for call centres. In the same window he founded VieDigi Inc. (2004-2006), engineering a touch-screen tablet prototype a full six years before the first iPad shipped. Manufacturing funding never came together — the technology thesis was right, the capital was not.

Joel architected, developed and supported Teldori (2005-2008), a dedicated technology product built for a US-based company — early proof of his ability to carry an international enterprise software contract and its remote technical support single-handedly. Through 9204-3280 Quebec Inc. (2008-2020) he continued expanding that independent consulting and software footprint, an era that eventually became Joel & Nanz Inc.

What began as providing early VoIP solutions turned into a two-decade tenure at TriageLogic. Joel progressed from external solutions provider to Head of IT and ultimately Director of IT, architecting, securing and scaling enterprise-grade infrastructure around highly sensitive healthcare data and nurse-triage systems.
Ran a successful internet cafe, providing community technology access and building customer service expertise.
